How to Build a Productive and Effective Team – Part 1

Yes, Virginia, there is an “I” in ‘team.’

Even though you’ve heard over the years “There is no ‘I’ in team,” I’m here to dispute that and explain why. Time and time again I work with managers who are frustrated and struggling, unable to get the members of their team to move in a certain direction and not knowing what step to take. That’s not a surprising thing, given the fact that productive and effective teams are hard to come by. Being successful at it once is challenging enough, and what’s even harder to find are leaders who can produce them again and again. Why is that? Because they don’t start with “I” first. Yes, you need to be clear on your personal goals as well as the personal goals of each team member. This podcast is the first in a series about team building, and it all begins with gaining clarity on what you want to achieve in life.
