Would Your Team Say You Made Them Better?

It’s easy for the leader to say that I made them better.  But what about them?  What would they say?  Would they agree with you or say that you had nothing to do with their success.  

Or, if you’ve been with them for a long time, does that change anything? What would you like former team members and other co-workers to be saying when you retire? Will they be talking about how you made them better and thanking you for that? Will they be mentioning how you held them accountable and that you were willing to be accountable too?

It is far too common for people to simply have a job for the paycheck and not for the love of the work. When our work provides the opportunity to grow and be our best it is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Top talent wants to be challenged in their work, be held accountable and to learn and grow in the process.

This is one of the secrets of great companies and great sports teams. Everyone desires to get better and hold those around them to the same high standard. Everyone supports one another.
