The Leader’s Guide to Personal Responsibility

Are you frustrated because team members are not accepting responsibility for what is expected of them? Possibly you are the reason why. People must understand what is expected of them and what the standard for success or failure is. Are they being reviewed regularly so they are clear on the direction they are headed and what can be done for further improvement? They need to be. Do they understand time lines and the consequences of not meeting them? Clarity ties outcomes to actions and is necessary for producing high-quality work. Be sure they are clear on your standards for high quality, and don’t accept mediocre results. Be ready to accept responsibility and hold yourself accountable, and you will have the platform for teaching the team to do the same for themselves.
