How a Performance Culture Can Lead to Mediocrity
Unfortunately, it is human nature to want to try and create sameness. That can mean when someone is pushing the envelope and excelling that others will be critical, unkind or find excuses why they can’t do the same. If you are trying to lead a team of high performers you may have experienced this. Rather than celebrate the achievements of the high performer the average worker is finding ways to be critical and to justify their average performance. If you’re not careful, a culture of mediocrity can be the result.
