Human beings are complex, what often seems logical for the hiring process isn’t. For instance, targeting individuals who have played sports to find competitive individuals for your sales division is probably not going to work. You might hit a home run every once in a while, but you’re likely to see many of those athletes leave. The short-term, competitive nature needed to win a game is far different than the long-term competitiveness a successful sales person needs every day. There are scientific methods for correcting hiring mistakes, and Steve talks about those and provides three criteria to follow when you decide to get scientific.
